Historic villa façade with symmetrical wooden windows and classical architectural detailing

A SYSTEM FOR ARCHITECTURE

Wooden windows.
Reconsidered.

Designed for architecture. Built for the future.

Manifesto

We think in systems, not products.
In proportion, not size.
In decades, not seasons.

01 — Philosophy

Reduction to the essential.

A window is not a product to be compared, but a boundary to be composed. It mediates between interior and exterior, between the desire for openness and the need for shelter.

dasHolzfenster is built on a single idea, architectural clarity comes from reduction. We remove what does not belong, so what remains feels inevitable.

Clarity

Architectural logic before product logic.

Separation

Interior and exterior can differ.

Longevity

Designed in decades, not trends.

Discretion

Technology that stays out of sight.

02 — Design & Detail

Slim profiles.
Quiet proportion.

Every line serves composition.
Sight-lines stay narrow. Profiles are precise.
Proportion holds, at every scale.

03 — Flexibility

One system —
many architectural expressions.

Whether in a listed villa, a contemporary residence or a complex geometry, the same system adapts without compromise.

From fine-grained heritage façades to contemporary architecture, without changing the system.

Interior and exterior can speak different languages, yet belong to one family.

Sensitive restoration of historic fabric.

Heritage

Sensitive restoration of historic fabric.

Proportion and rhythm across the façade.

Classical

Proportion and rhythm across the façade.

Calm light, warm wood, considered depth.

Interior

Calm light, warm wood, considered depth.

04 — Special solutions

Arches, circles, geometries that resist standard.

Demanding architecture asks for more than rectangles. The system absorbs complexity, from arched openings and round windows to tall composed units, without losing its calm.

05 — Performance

Outcomes, not specifications.

Energy

A well-insulated building envelope reduces energy demand — consistently, across all seasons.

Acoustic

Streets and cities soften. Rooms become rooms again.

Durability

Materials chosen and detailed to age without apology.

Security

Protection that is felt, not seen.

Material

Wood, on its own terms.

Wood is not a surface. It is a material that changes over time.

It carries structure, depth and memory. It responds to light, to use, and to age.

In architecture, this is not a weakness. It is a quality.

dasHolzfenster is built around this understanding. Wood is not concealed. It is used where it matters, with clarity, precision and respect for its nature.

How we work

A system, and a way of working.

dasHolzfenster is not a single product. It is a system and a way of working. We operate across three levels:

System

A next-generation window system developed from architectural principles, focused on proportion, flexibility and long-term performance.

Partnership

Collaboration with selected manufacturers, architects and developers to bring the system into real projects.

Development

Support in planning, detailing and system integration, from early concept to execution.

Portrait of Michael Müller

Michael Müller — Founder

06 — Founder

Thirty-five years of windows.
One clear conclusion.

Michael Müller developed his career through craftsmanship, production, and executive leadership, across both Germany and the United States. During the past fifteen years, he oversaw complex window and façade projects, including work for KORN and Tischler und Sohn.

During that time, one clear realization emerged: architecture requires a timber window system that systematically combines design freedom with technical precision.

dasHolzfenster is the response to that experience.

About the Founder

About the Founder

Michael Müller began his professional career as a craftsman and, over more than three decades, developed a deep understanding of materials, construction, production, and architectural requirements.

His path led him through production, project management, and executive leadership, including many years serving as managing director and overseeing demanding window and façade projects in both Germany and the United States.

During the past fifteen years, he held leading responsibility for the development and realization of complex window and façade solutions, including his work for KORN and Tischler und Sohn, both established companies known for demanding architectural projects.

Throughout his entire career, one central realization remained constant:

There was no timber window system capable of meeting the architectural demands of modern projects without continuously relying on highly individualized custom solutions.

dasHolzfenster is the systematic response to that experience. A system developed from practice, technical precision, and the ambition to support architecture more effectively over the long term.
